<p>Women face the unique challenge of choosing between motherhood and their careers. Some find a way to balance both but at some point, choices must be made. Desiree DeLong is a successful nurse at Duke Hospitals. She attended Penland School of Crafts in the mountains of North Carolina where she learned metalsmithing to become a jeweler. E.L. Roberts is a wife and mother of two in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with hopes of one day perusing a law degree.</p>
<p>Roberts and DeLong exemplify the challenge of choice that all women face. It is a universal choice that is not made without sacrifice.</p>
<p>This is my second long-term multimedia piece (February-May 2011).</p>
